What is the COSMOS Star Party?

What began as a complimentary star party known as the Irish Astrofest, hosted by Midlands Astronomy Club since 1992 has turned into a thrilling weekend full of internationally-recognised speakers, exhibits and stands, astronomy, rocket launches, interactive fun events and more. Aimed at all levels of interest, ages and demographics, COSMOS brings together astronomers, scientists, rocket engineers as well as amateurs, families and enthisiasts for a celebration of Irish Astronomy.

What can I expect at COSMOS 2017?

That is up to you, as there is something to suit all levels of interests and ages. Children under 13 even go free with a paying adult, so bring them along! Take part in the events by building your own bottle rocket, or stay late Saturday evening for our annual free Astro Quiz with prizes and even astronomical observing. Listen to various lectures by internationally-recognised speakers. All this, and more, and it won't cost you the stars!
